Trillium Progress
Big changes underway at #trilliumhouse over the past several weeks. It’s always so much when I head up on my weekly visits. I’m delighted with every aspect of this project. We have a great contractor and I truly love his crew. Everyone comes with suggestions and ideas on how to make this little gem come together. All working hard to make sure the quality and frugality of this project work hand in hand. Oh! And the views…my goodness the views!
Living Room
The views are spectacular and the leaves have been glorious. Every trip up the mountain sheds new light and new vistas for me to enjoy. I’ve truly been inspired by the environment around this little home. Taking from what I see around me and infusing it into the color scheme within.
Several rooms made huge leaps this week. The downstairs bedroom and the bunkroom received finished walls and ceilings. Stain and paint were added and lighting will be going in soon. Plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc… all busy at work. running wire and pipes, shoring up foundations and cleaning up walls. Sheetrock goes in next week and then we’ll really see things moving. I love it when I walk in and the contractor and his crew are ready for selections or decisions. I love getting in there with them and vetting out solutions to problems and figuring out how to work around issues.
That’s the thing with renovations…so much happening under the surface that we never see. You know work is being done. You know that progress is being made even when you have nothing to show for it. Problems pop up, situations throw you curve balls and you have address them. Isn’t that like life as well? Aren’t we all in some form of renovation? Some call it self improvement, others call it transcendence, or enlightenment. For me as a Christian, I call it sanctification. The constant and ever learning of how to be more like Christ. To live as He lived, to love as He loved. The joy for me in this never-ending process is that one day I will be completed. I will be renovated and restored and it will be beautiful. Just like Him.
Maybe that’s why I love restoring old homes? Maybe that’s why I get excited when I see someone else restoring an old home or dilapidated building…it means new beginnings. It means renewal.
