As a true southerner, raised by southerners, from a long line of share croppers, millworkers, and cowboys, I am all too aware of the taste of a fresh, sweet and ripe summer peach. So when Pantone announced the 2024 color of year as Peach Fuzz, my southern heart did a little jig.
I love the soft tones of the color known as peach. Look closely though and you’ll see that a peach is far from the single tone that one color can encompass. A peach is red, orange, yellow, green and every variation in between. I love color in general, simply because it is varied and ever changing. The color peach in the morning sun looks completely different than the peach sitting in afternoon shadows.
Isn’t that like life as well? Aren’t our lives all variations of color and hue? Aren’t we as people layers of interests, talents, wounds, strengths, and weaknesses… aren’t we variations of color ourselves.
Did you know that a blue eyed person sees color different than a brown eyed person? Tone, shade, saturation…all affected by the color of our eyes. FASCINATING! Our Creator made us to see everything around us with different lenses. And it is a gift to understand and see things through those lenses.
My challenge for 2024 is to open my eyes to see the variations and layers of every color, situation, and person that I have the privilege of meeting this year.
